There are so many complaints about the Golden Globes and the Oscars each year, I’m surprised there isn’t more love for the MTV Movie Awards. Granted, teens rule the day and while the nominees definitely line up more with the moviegoing populous, the winners generally skew younger. So films like Twilight and The Hunger Games regularly beat geek movies and Oscar contenders.
Case in point, the 2015 MTV Movie Awards nominations. Guardians of the Galaxy, Neighbors and The Fault in Our Stars lead all the nominees with seven each. Guess which one I’m betting wins the most? Still, it’s a fun list of nominations including categories like Best Fight, Best WTF Moment and Best On-Screen Transformation. The 2015 MTV Movie Awards will air on April 12, hosted by Amy Schumer. There are some fun and uber-worthy nominations in there. For example, how does Ellar Coltrane lose Best On-Screen Transformation? Has there ever been a better on-screen transformation? This is the MTV Movie Awards though so always bet on the movie teens saw. Elizabeth Banks will beat him.
The Skeleton Twins getting a Best Musical Moment is perfect and awesome too. One of the best movie moments of 2015. However, it’ll lose to Jennifer Lawrence. Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel as Best Duo is super cool as well, but the competition in that category is just too stiff.
Again – lots of worthy nominations but most likely, The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1, The Fault in Our Stars and maybe The Maze Runner will be the big winners of the night. I still think it’s cool to see some great nominees in there.
