New ‘The X-Files’ Revival Posters Bring Back The Smoking Man

Check out the rest of the X-Files posters after the jump.
We’ve known for a long time that Davis would be returning for this six-episode miniseries and his distinct rasp has shown up in previous trailers. Still, fans have been wondering about the exact nature of his grand return. After all, the last time we saw him in the series finale, he was (13-year-old spoiler alert) being definitively killed for the second time. For guy who smokes that many cigarettes, this shadowy government operator sure has a thing for not dying.
As you can see in the gallery below, the other posters are all about the main duo at the heart of the series, presented in straightforward and slightly abstract fashions. The shadowy “Trust No One” poster is especially cool, recalling the weird (and oh-so-dated) imagery from the opening credits of the original series.
Enough of you were alive and being proper humans in the ’90s to remember how big this show was and how many people devoted much of their free time on the burgeoning internet to discussing it. Some of the young ‘uns out there may not realize this, but Agents Mulder and Scully were doing the Lost thing a decade before Lost, complete with a total letdown of an ending. Still, like our occasionally frustrating hours spent on that mysterious Island, we wouldn’t trade our time spent following David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson around the country as they solved mysteries for anything. You know what they say about journeys and so on and so forth.
The X-Files returns for its new run on January 24, 2016. If you need more right now, there are plenty of trailers to watch.
