Sequel Bits: ‘Creed 2,’ ‘Predator 3,’ ‘Trainspotting 2,’ ‘Bond 25’

Creed made $42 million in its first five days of release, so of course they’re already talking about a follow-up. Sure, some of the original Rocky sequels were less than inspiring, but a future Creed movie probably won’t have the nerve to feature Michael B. Jordan defeating ISIS in the boxing ring. In any case, Jordan is totally down to play Adonis Creed again, saying:

Milla Jovovich has been teasing Resident Evil: The Final Chapter from her Instagram account, giving her followers glimpses of the set and her co-stars. In one intriguing photo, she shared a look at her genetically modified action heroine, Alice, as an old woman. Since she insists that this isn’t from some kind of epilogue, we’ll leave you to figure out what this could mean.

20 years after Danny Boyle smashed his way into the mainstream with Trainspotting, he’s finally preparing to revisit the Edinburgh drug scene again to see how his cast of characters are holding up. Robert Carlyle, who played Begbie in the original film, has read the screenplay for the sequel and he has some high praise:
Like so many long-time-coming sequels, the Trainspotting follow-up (which is loosely based on the original novel’s sequel, Porno) with catch up with the same character two decades after we last saw them and will deal directly with how time has treated them:
It’s one of the best scripts I’ve f–cking read. I mean, ever.
People who came to see the original film when they were in their early twenties are very different people now. And the way John Hodge has put this thing down, obviously with the help of Danny Boyle, is to make it about how the characters’ lives have moved on… or have they?
The remake of Jean-Claude Van Damme’s Kickboxer isn’t even out yet and they’re already working on a sequel. It even has a title and everything: Kickboxer 2: Retaliation. Whether this is a sign of confidence in the original film or an attempt to load up your local Redbox with as many schlocky martial arts movies as possible remains unknown. The first film, which stars Alain Moussi as the titular warrior, Van Damme as his mentor, and Dave Bautista, Gina Carano, and George St. Pierre as various allies and enemies, will arrive in 2016.
It seems that people really missed Derek Zoolander. Ben Stiller’s constantly in-over-his-head male model is back in Zoolander 2 early next year and the audiences have spoken: with 52.2 million views within the first week of its release, the trailer has become the most watched comedy trailer since, well, whenever people starting tracking these numbers. The previous record holder was Dumb and Dumber Too, which debuted with 49 million views.
Daniel Craig has not been shy about his frustration with playing James Bond and the mixed reaction to Spectre probably has him rethinking whether or not he’s ready to undergo another few years of pain and stress for the character. However, Barbara Broccoli, the executive producer of the 007 franchise, is doing whatever she can to keep Craig in play. After all, the next entry in the series is the 25th Bond movie. You don’t want to screw that one up. Here’s her quote:
