The First ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Trailer Will Play With ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Because Duh

Well, the other hand seems to be right. The counter-rumor says that a Civil War trailer is on the way, but we shouldn’t expect to see it in theaters until Star Wars makes its grand return. If nothing else, Disney is a master of synergy.

This report comes to us from Collider, whose sources have proven to be reliable in the past. If their unnamed sources aren’t proof enough for you (and honestly, you should carry salt with you wherever you go on the internet), they offer some strange evidence that also feeds into another ongoing mystery.

Look at this tweet. On the right is a portion of the American flag. On the left is something else.

You may not know it, but chances are strong that you’ve seen that image on the left before. It’s part of this famous poster for the original 1977 Star Wars:

So if Collider’s sources are right about the Civi War trailer being attached to The Force Awakens (and it makes too much sense to not be true), then this Twitter feed knew about it in advance. That also means that we might as well put a blue check mark next to the name because this is totally affiliated with the filmmakers.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to open on December 18, 2015. Captain America: Civil War will arrive on May 6, 2016.
